“My mother, lived in Burlington, VT at a skilled nursing facility and was admitted to hospice due to a sharp decline in her appetite. She died due to malnutrition on July 23 of this year. The death certificate noted it was due to malnutrition due to Alzheimer’s dementia, however my mom never forgot how to eat or had difficulty swallowing. She died due to malnutrition from COVID isolation.”
Thank you to every person that submitted a story and/or photograph and gave us permission to use it in our book, “Protecting Them To Death: The Impact of Isolation in Long-Term Care”. We are so humbled by the outpouring of support and the sharing that has come in. This book, featuring stories from every state in our nation, will be guided into the hands of every representative in the House and Senate.
