The “Isolation Kills, Too” Campaign

March 8-13, 2021

6 Days

17 States

1 Mission

For a week leading up to the one year anniversary of the long term care lockdown, seventeen states came together to demand an end to residents living in isolation. And we were just getting started.

“Isolation Kills, Too!” is the battle cry of our movement to recognize the dangerous toll a year of lockdown has taken on the lives in long term care.

And to hold accountable those capable of restoring their rights.

No matter what state you live in, you can always get involved.

Isolation Anniversary Long Term Care Webinar

Family Caregiving AND Residents’ Rights

“A must see for anyone grappling with their loved one living in isolation long term care.”
A Conversation with

Dr.Candace Kemp, Professor at Georgia State University and Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America

Toby Edelman, Senior Policy Attorney with the Center for Medicare Advisory

Residents in long term care communities are living in isolation, without customary social interaction, and are separated from their families. This reviews academic research results on why family members are “more than visitors” and serve a critical role in formal and informal caregiving. Second, the webinar educates on the current state of Residents’ Right, including an historical perspective and an explanation of industry lingo that can be confusing to families. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the speakers address considerations on balancing long-term care residents’ rights with needs of the community.
